Transport Union Leader in the Philippines murdered

On July 2, 2013, Antonio “Dodong” Petalcorin, the leader of the Network of Transport Organizations in Davao City, Philippines, was shot dead. He and other labour leaders had been fighting corruption in the city's transportation administration and trying to improve the conditions of the city's transport drivers. The International Transport Workers Federation - the ITF - has started a global campaign demanding an inquiry into the murder.
